The Scam Show

In 2010, the number of scams reported in Australia doubled from 20,000 to 42,000.*

The scams are becoming more sophisticated, taking advantage of social media, email, ATMs and mobile phone technology to separate their victims from their money.

One of the most at risk groups is young people. They use the technology but don’t always under the risks.

Australia’s Honest Con Man is here to change all that.

The Scam Show is a fun and exciting sixty minute show for secondary students.

Nicholas J. Johnson will come to your school and use magic, comedy and recreations of classic scams to show students exactly how to protect themselves from swindlers and confidence men. Students will learn:

-How to avoid having their PIN stolen
-How to spot fake money
-How to identify a phishing site.
-What the best passwords are
-How to tell if a deal is too good to be true
-How to spot an identity thief.

By the end of The Scam Show, students will better understand the risks of online transactions and how to protect themselves.
